The Casket Girls - "Same Side"
These sisters are amazing. Trust me. I know that the whole ethereal, dream pop genre is exploding all over everyone's social media. BUT! With that acknowledgement I must say that The Casket Girls are incredible. They have this beautiful trifecta of dark, grunge mixed with a lightness and a twinge of 1960's girl power. Their sophomore album, True Love Kills The Fairy Tale, will be out February 11, 2014. In the mean time, check out "Same Side," a track off of the upcoming album. They'll be on tour come February, so be sure to check out the Facebook page here for all the information!!!

Cage the Elephant - Melophobia
On October 8 Cage the Elephant released their third album, Melophobia. You can check out a preview of the album below or purchase it here. We love the album's rock n' roll pace with detailed, indie vocals that keeps us intrigued throughout the entire time. The sound of the album is very much a merging of alternative rock wining and dining with lighter indie pop which creates this intricate sound that differs from past albums. Melophobia shows a progression for the band into a more complex range of musical creation that I think everyone will not only appreciate but enjoy: new and old fans alike.

New Band: Ecole Du Ciel
Hailing from South Italy, but signed to Chicago-based label Already Dead Tape and Records, Ecole Du Ciel released their latest EP, Heartbeat War Drum, on October 15th.
It’s a pretty intense affair, the band describing themselves as Emo post rock punk, but really it’s a little bit of an injustice when you hear their sound. Their style is very much akin to one of the latest musical crazes sweeping the US and UK, that of Math-Pop (intricate guitar parts married with intense vocals). This is evident on the track, “Wheelboat”, which comes at the midpoint of the album and provides a nice contrast between the heavier tracks that bear more than a little resemblance to some of the earlier shoe-gazing bands of the 90s.

Weekend playing at Northside Music Festival in Brooklyn

Come check out weekend, the post-punk band from San Francisco now located in Brooklyn. They’ve played the hottest venues for indie music such as Glasslands and 285 Kent, both located in the borough they now call home. Their new album jinx coming out July 23rd is amazing. Full of upbeat but still somber tracks, it feels like the tension experienced in young adulthood between being nostalgic about the past, optimistic about the present, and scared about the future. Described by front man Shaun Durkan as "Volatile. Cathartic. Bittersweet", this band is more than worth checking out, it's a must.
