We provide you with information on upcoming bands, band reviews, band interviews, parties (Indie-Pendent Thursday's and more), style tips, trend report, street style, healthy eats, ways to stay in shape, and much more.
Stic-of-the-Week was founded in July 2009 by Chelsea Cankar. STIC, standing for first letters of Style and last letters of Music. Bored and uninspired at her day job, and itching to get involved in something she was passionate about, Stic was nothing more than an idea over lunch turned reality. The original was based on the thinking of how festival fashion had become so popular and how fashion and music parallel in so many ways, and it just spiraled up from there. Having several years experience in magazine publishing, Chelsea was able to apply her knowledge from that, and just learning as she went on from there, and never being afraid to ask questions!
Chelsea speaks out about having her own blog: "You really learn how to do everything, or you are stuck hiring people to help you all the time. Starting your own site, you learn more things then you would ever even dream about. After having the site for almost a year, Lauren Kazun jumped on board to help me with posts and networking in the music community, since then we've grown to an contributing editorial staff (Jean & Olivia) of two and a intern (Deenah) who just came on this summer. Having expanded now to music, style and nutrition/health and having weekly events at Debonair (Indie-Pendent Thursday's with Corner Promotions), bi-monthly parties at Beauty Bar, and hosting the popular 90's Party (Along with Team Bayside High & YM!). Then even taking on learning to DJ, an idea by friend Greg Corner (Bassist from Kill Hannah). The newest challenge SOTW withstands is for us to start expanding the site out of Chicago and onto the west/east coasts."
