California Wives - Art History

The Chicago new-wave quartet California Wives just announced that their 11-track LP, Art History, will be out September 4 on Vagrant. You can grab a free download of their song "Marianne" below.

The group will also be playing a show at Lincoln Hall this Sunday, opening for Brooklyn duo Tanlines- in other words, you should be at Lincoln Hall on Sunday evening, because it's going to be SICK.

Caldwell - "So Sad, So Lonely" (and Tanlines because I am obsessed).

No, it's not an angsty Facebook status.  It's a new video by Caldwell.

Also, I can't get enough of Tanlines.  You can stream Mixed Emotions fo FREE on NPR's First Listen.  Today I listened to them while I baked applesauce muffins, and then I listened to them while I drove around with a t-shirt on and my windows down, and I am listening to them now as I sit here in my robe, eating pasta. My emotions for Tanlines aren't mixed at all; it's pure joy.

Free Music - Tanlines

You can pick up some free tracks from the Brooklyn experimental pop/indie rock (thanks, Wikipedia) duo Tanlines here and here.

This feels like fun, dance-y summer music - good for driving with the windows down. These songs are going on a mix CD.

Jesse Cohen and Eric Emm will be releasing their album Mixed Emotions on True Panther (what a great label name!) on March 20.
