Fort Frances - Chicago (Sufjan Stevens Cover)

Fort Frances will be playing at Lincoln Hall on Sunday, November 3. In honor of playing in our fair city the band concocted a cover of Sufjan Stevens' "Chicago". Stream and download the track, which is unbelievably pleasant, below. For more information on Fort Frances, check out their facebook page, HERE

Garden's & Villa Back in the Windy City

California natives, Gardens & Villa played Wednesday night at Lincoln Hall. I first heard them at Lincoln Hall last June, when opening for sensations Foster the People, aka the band that sings Pumped Up Kicks. It was love and first listen with Gardens & Villa, I loved them right away. I remember even turing to my friend, and saying "I love this band, who are they?" Now almost a year later seeing them again, I couldn't believe the growth of the band both in popularity and strength of stage presence, then of course over all sound. They played some of their unrecorded songs, which blew me a way; then they played several off their album Gardens & Villa, which was released last July 2011. When meeting Adam (keys) and Chris (lead vocals) after the show, I was saddened to hear they aren't releasing a new album till next year, because I just can't wait to hear more!  These guys aren't going anywhere, besides to the top. Their next big adventure is Coachella Music Festival in April, which Adam admitted they are a little nervous about. Be sure to check them out at Coachella if you are making your way out to the desert.

Noah & the Whale, Lincoln Hall

Noah & the Whale played for the second night at Lincoln Hall to a packed crowd. The dapper English indie folk band, broke their set into stages or romantic mixed with up beat dance music. First off this band rocks with incredible style, that I feel like very limited amount of people would be able to pull off. The lead singer Charlie, under that dapper suite had red suspenders, which normally would make you think of Santa Claus but he completely pulled it off with his adorable dance moves and curly brown hair flapping around.

Jam out to a N&TW Remix below, ready set dance!

Smith Westerns are HOME!

Smith Westerns
are playing a home show tonight at Lincoln Hall if you haven't heard!? The very buzzed about band when I was down at SXSW, and even named by SPIN as the must see band to see down there. The SW's are really hitting the music scene here in Chicago and the rest of the country. They have resently even been called The Beatles of Chicago. Playing at Lollapalooza in August as well, can't help but to excited for the band, after all you gotta support the hometown band. Just listening to resent interview with Alexa Chung (Interview by Popsugar), she has even jumped on the Smith Western bandwagon, naming them the top band she listens to on her iPod.
