Color Me Once

Color Me Once, a duo comprised of Madison-based artists Kelsey Nelson and Johnice Miller describe themselves quite accurately as acoustic/soul. Johnice's full, strong voice rings out above gentle guitar lines. This is perfect rainy-day music, or coffee-shop music. Make sure to take a listen to "Rollercoaster."
The two just placed third in a Battle of the Bands at Reggie's, so hopefully we'll see them in Chicago again soon.
Until then, listen to their "Memoirs" EP, which was released in March of this year.

Lianne La Havas - "Forget"

London's soul songstress released a new video Friday that's got me captivated. I can't resist a fashionable lady with sultry vocals and slinky dance moves.

"Already Mine"- Dance Floor Plans

Opening for Nikka Costa at Lincoln Hall on August 21st is
Dance Floor Plans. The group has a laid back, 70s vibe courtesy of vocalists James Johnston and Tina M. Howell, as well as a groovin' brass section that easily convinces you to make those plans for the dance floor :) Evolving and constantly growing, the group lives for creating their sound from the ground up, and they are definitely an act you should go see...especially for those of you who love a good amount of soul in their musical diet.
