Last night, I saw Brett Dennen and Dawes, these two bands together are quite the up beat combo. If you are ever feeling blue, these bands immediately cheer you up! Sadly, I missed half of Dawes show, but I was still able to see some of it, and they are always a band that impresses me. They are also in the band Middle Brother with members of the band Delta Spirit, Deer Tick and Jonny Corndawg. Their new album comes out Tuesday, June 7th (Side note: Fans last night were able to get it a few days early, so if you have a friend that was at the show, maybe they will let you borrow it!) so be sure to check it out, what I heard of it last night, you won't be disappointed!
Brett Dennen never disappoints, this was the second time I heard him live, and the laid back cheerful stage presence always leaves you leaving the show with a smile on your face and new dance moves you have picked up from the singer. His laid back, easy going spirit really shines through his music, even stepping out on stage in only his bare feet and and paired with a tie-dye shirt. His music immediately transforms you in the summer spirit and you can almost taste the salty air in your mouth mixed with coconut. Brett released his newest album "Lover Boy" back in April, so be sure to pick it up and shuffle it into your summer beach play list.

Brett Dennen @ Taste of Chicago
Brett Dennen is one of my favorite musicians around; his calypso style music has a way of making me in a good mood no matter what sort of day you’re having, feeling blue? Try putting on his music for a few minutes, Brett’s music has this way of revitalize you and bring you into a dream world of beaches and the wind blowing your hair in the summer breeze. How can you not be happy after listening to songs like Blessed or When I Go? If you happen to be around this Wednesday, June 30th at noon, be sure to check Brett out at Grant Park, Chicago at Taste of Chicago.
