DeLuna Fest Day 3 (Part 1)

One guy, one mike, one freakin great show! Normally Andy, of Astronautalis, performs with his band but they couldn't be there so he just put on his iPod and went on with the show... well... for as long as his iPod could handle it at least. The Florida sun overheated it and with the second set-back, he just busted out into a crowd inspired freestyle! A true performer, he talked about his origins, touring around Florida and having played in Pensacola before. He even ended with a freestyle about his fantasy football teams! It was SO much fun and I can't say enough how much respect he earned from everyone there. He also came out after the show to take a pic with every single fan! Stand-up guy for sure.

We wandered over to Ben Sollee. While I thought he had a really unique/fun fusion of musical styles; I don't think any girl around noticed in the slightest. I guess it was hard for them to notice anything over all their swooning! The man had them wrapped around his finger. Regardless, any time you mix folk, bluegrass, R&B, and a chello, you're gonna be doing well for yourself haha.

I'm ending Part 1 with The Wallflowers. I listened to these guys all the time back in the 90s. Jakob, the lead singer is Bob Dylan's son... Bob freakin Dylan! The genetics are strong with this one. He mentioned that they're going to be coming out with some new stuff soon (October) and mixed in the new with the old. This was such a welcomed blast from the past and I can't wait to hear their great new material more often. Keep your eyes peeled!

Part 2 will be coming up soon!
