Last night Chelsea and I went to Schubas to check out Sir Jove and Kirby Kaiser. Sir Jove started things off right!!! With a mix of funk, rock, rap, soul, Sir Jove brought the house down as he put in his blood sweat and tears into every. single. word. he sang. It was like he was magically possessed by some theatrical and musical god. His performance (with his funktastic band) strongly reminded me of a male Janelle Monae, especially as he called to his fans as his fellow "clones". Trust me, you need to see this guy live, because in doing so your perception of reality will waiver and you will be transported to Sir Jove's world!!!
Kirby Kaiser was an awesome treat to end the night. She is opening for Smith Westerns at Vitamin Water and DO312's Winter Escape, and rightly so. The girl can sing. With a husky, sultry voice, Kaiser seduces the audience with her Amy Winehouse-like execution and vocal power that recalls Adele. Definitely a lady crooner to look out for. :)
