Film For Thought: Fabulous Fashionistas

Fashion and life lovers unite and read here:

I came across this fabulous documentary, Fabulous Fashionistas, from a dear friend who resides in the UK. The film focuses on 6 women over 80 who are still inspired daily to not only continue their work, but also dress and dress well. The 47 minute film will surely be the brightest part of your day and (if you're like me) inspire you to be healthy, work hard and dress fabulously every. single. day.

Now Approaching: Winter Fashion

november style I

One of my favorite trends for fall/winter this year is neutral color-blocking. Mixing your grays, browns and blacks is so chic and simple and chances are you already own several pieces in these colors! Bundle up in a classic coat, some easy booties and a rich toned scarf (think emerald or oxblood) for a lush touch and the windy city never looked so good.

STyle + musIC = STIC

The sisters behind the fashion house Rodarte teamed up with director, Todd Cole, to create this short fashion film that debuted August 13. The film is lovely and the ultimate culmination of STIC with killer fashion and an amazing soundtrack from Beach House! Take a break from your Monday and check. it. out. on the real.

Back to School

skool

As I head into my senior year of college, I thought it would be fun (and prudent) to share my back to school wishlist that is perfect for any collegiate! A killer pair of leggings paired with some stylish and simple crew necks are the perfect uniform for any student. A pair of chic and professional shoes alongside classic chucks are definitely necessary this year. Add a backpack and a leather jacket and whether you're a student or just getting ready for fall fashion you'll be A+ ready!

Spring Trend: WATER

water spring trend 1

water spring trend 1 by jsnovak featuring floral tops

This season the runways were flooded with beautifully appropriate water inspired motifs. Everyone from Proenza Schouler, to Charlotte Ronson (pictured above), Michael Kors, Donna Karan, and more were giving their runways a splash of this effortlessly chic, summer look. Take a cue from the runway and try out water wear for yourself.

The Miseducation

With Lauryn Hill and Nas rocking The Congress tonight, a nineties outfit is needed. The camo might be more Fugees than Miseducation, but the big earrings and swinging necklace is all Lauryn. Don't forget, the floor at The Congress slants toward the stage so flats are a must.

Apocalypse Now

Apocalypse Now

With the results of the recent election, at least half of this country is convinced the world is going to end.
Hurricane Sandy, along with the other extreme weather of recent years, has people convinced the global warming will be our demise - and soon.
The Mayans were either sure the world would end this December, or they ran out of room on the stone they were carving.
Supposedly, the CDC posted a tips on how to survive a zombie plague.

Moral of the story? If the world ends, you better look good while it happens - and be prepared for the inevitable post-apocalyptic lifestyle.

You'll be pockets for storing berries and grenades. Layers for the weather going from 100 degrees to 5 degrees in a single day. A leather belt for keeping your pants up - and for climbing things. Good shoes for obvious reasons. A messenger bag for your gas mask, compass and stale bread.

As the Boy Scouts say, Always.Be.Prepared.
